Burntwood is a town in Staffordshire, England, lying in the Cannock Chase area approximately four miles east of Lichfield. The town had a population of 26,035 at the time of the 2001 census and forms part of Lichfield district. It is one of the largest urban civil parishes in the UK.

The town grew in the nineteenth century around the coal mining industry. Samuel Johnson opened an academy in nearby Edial in 1736.
