Local Information for Ryton
Ryton is a small town near the western border of Tyne and Wear, UK.
It was historically a place of migration for the wealthy who wanted to escape the urban sprawl of the industrial revolution in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Gateshead. Some of the old mansions can still be seen in old Ryton village, a place rich in rural qualities because of its proximity to Ryton willows on the banks of the River Tyne. Away from the placid Ryton village, the town is a vibrant place with various public houses and restaurants.
The neighbouring village of Crawcrook is a nexus of coal mining nostalgia. Remnants of several old pits scatter a location that owes its existence to the coal trade. Within a couple of hundred metres of the main street there is rich countryside.
